Sacristan

Responsibilities include:

• The initial setting up of the sanctuary for each Mass
• Assisting the priest in distributing communion during Mass
• They take down the set up and clean the dishes after Mass

The sanctuary is a place of peace, where one can go to commune with the Lord. Often times, not much thought is given to the preparation involved in that experience. The role of a Sacristan is to help Mass run as smoothly as possible from “behind the scenes.”
